In a devastating turn of events, parenting influencer Lindsay Dewey is mourning the loss of her 22-month-old son, Reed, after a tragic accident in their Idaho home. Dewey, who shares her motherhood journey with over 54,000 followers on Instagram, recently opened up about the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding her son’s passing.

The incident occurred when Reed was innocently playing with a suction cup bowl, attaching it to a tall mirror and pulling it back and forth. The repeated tugging caused the large mirror to become unstable and ultimately fall on him. Dewey rushed to lift the mirror off Reed within seconds, but the damage had already been done. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors discovered severe brain swelling. Despite medical efforts, Reed was declared brain dead.

In the midst of unbearable grief, Lindsay and her family made the courageous decision to donate Reed’s organs, saving the lives of five other children. She later expressed that knowing her son became a miracle for other families brought her some peace amid the pain.

The tragedy has sparked important conversations about home safety. Dewey, known for being meticulous about baby-proofing and child safety, stressed that the mirror was one of the few unsecured items in their home—a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly accidents can happen.

To honor Reed’s memory, a local brand, Little Hunters Wife, launched a line of apparel with proceeds benefiting the Dewey family. Lindsay continues to use her platform to share Reed’s story and raise awareness about household safety.

The loss of young Reed serves as a sobering reminder of life’s fragility and the importance of securing furniture and fixtures in homes with young children. The thoughts of many remain with the Dewey family during this unimaginable time.
