Reality TV star Jax Taylor, best known for his roles on Vanderpump Rules and The Valley, recently made a shocking admission about his decades-long battle with substance abuse. Speaking on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast on March 4, 2025, Taylor revealed that he has struggled with a cocaine addiction for over 20 years.

"I am an addict. I have substance issues—primarily with cocaine. It's hard to say out loud," Taylor confessed. He went on to explain that his addiction has been an ongoing battle since he was 23 years old and worsened amid personal struggles, including his recent separation from wife Brittany Cartwright.

Following his admission, Taylor shared that he has been actively working toward recovery and is currently 83 days sober from both cocaine and alcohol. He acknowledged that alcohol often fueled his drug use, making it a critical factor in his sobriety journey. His revelation came as a surprise to many fans, though some of his former Vanderpump Rules co-stars have expressed support.

Lala Kent, who has been vocal about her own sobriety, praised Taylor for coming forward. "I am very proud of him... I wish him nothing but the best in his sobriety," she said. Tom Sandoval also weighed in, stating that many cast members were aware of Taylor’s struggles and commending him for seeking help.

While Cartwright acknowledged relief that Taylor is finally confronting his issues, she admitted she remains skeptical about his long-term recovery. "I've tried desperately to help him without success," she said, adding that she hopes he will stay committed to change.
